Project Background:

One of the most popular museums pursued a goal to improve the visitor experience, streamline the flow of people entering the facility, and improve security operations. As the number of visitors increased and online booking became popular, the museum was in the need of an effective entrance control system to substitute traditional manual ticket checking which not only took time and led to long queues in the museum but also meant lengthy and bulky verification procedures.

Client Requirements:

  • Install turnstiles (pedestrian) at the entrance of the museum to control the traffic of visitors.
  • Allow several authentication options: QR code reading (which is compatible with online reservation code) and ID card detection.
  • Well connected with the current system of the museum to check in real-time with automatic verification of the visitors.
  • Stable operation, quick response and easy handling that are favorable to visitors of any age.

Our Solution:

An intelligent pedestrian turnstile: we tailored a system to the museum:

  • Multi-mode Verification: The turnstiles have high-definition QR code scanners and ID card readers, which enable the department to scan the reservation QR code (mobile) and swipe with ID cards, which is both flexible and convenient.
  • Reservation System Integration: The turnstiles will be linked to the reservation system of the museum via API. Using the system a visitor is able to verify his or her QR code or ID card, which the system automatically verifies, and within a few seconds, one sees the access given.
  • Security and Diversity: The turnstiles have anti-pinch barriers and strong components, hence they operate safely during a high-capacity environment. Also, they are dustproof and waterproof, which is appropriate to be used in the long term, both indoors and outdoors at the entrance.

Project Results:

  • Effective Entrance: The mean time spent in the queues was minimized to less than 2 seconds per visitor, this notable decrease in queue time made visitors happier.
  • Proper Management: Combination with the reservation system has eradicated counterfeit tickets and duplications, which gave the museum the accurate data of visitors.
  • Improved Experience: The convenient ways of verifying themselves, and in particular the rapid entry of the mobile code in QR, were valued by the visitors and aligned with the current tendencies toward modern digital lifestyles.

This project was able to provide the balance between efficiency, security and user friendly at the entrance of the museum which has become a standard in the intelligent venue access control.
